The Cheyenne Canyon Band was originally formed in 1996 as a “New Country” band with original members Jerry Johnson (Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar), Ed Rohrs (Lead Guitar), Joe Valenza (Bass Guitar) & Dennis DeVor (Drums). We met local singer Jim Brown in 1997, backing him at a Battle of the Bands at Adventure World with only (1) week of rehearsal. While we did not win that contest, we had found our new lead singer. Recording our first CD that year with Frank Starchak. Over the last 20 years we have been priviledged to have met & played with some of the best local musicians in town.
Our Original Drummer, Dennis DeVor left the band for Health reasons in 2012 & was replaced by Bryon Newcomer. The band remained intact until August of 2016 when Lead Guitarist Ed Rohr passed away suddenly of a heart attack. Upon Ed death. We were so grateful to Rusty Hinshaw for filling in at lead guitar and allowing us to fulfill our obligations.
Originally a “country band”, limiting ourselves to country venues, we transited to a “classic rock” band in 2012.
